Former Michigan State University star Antonio Smith, a 6-foot-8 power forward legend, took the Hamady varsity boys basketball team to his old stomping ground for a campus tour and an MSU game. Smith is currently an assistant basketball coach for Hamady. Smith took the young men to the Michigan State vs. Northern Illinois basketball game. Afterward, the team was able to go into the locker room to talk with the players and tour the facility.

Hamady Varsity Basketball coach Tim McKenzie stated: "Smith gave the entire team tickets; we were six rows up from the floor. It was a great experience for our guys as it helped them to understand what it takes to play at a big-time college."

The Hamady basketball team was able to see the background operations including the press area. All the cameras and microphones in the faces of the MSU players gave the Hamady players insight into life on the big stage.

Coach Tim McKenzie continued: "We are just trying to get them thinking a little higher; to show them this is what I can do when I work hard. We appreciate the opportunity presented by Coach Tom Izzo and Coach Smith, and hope to make this a regular event.”
