On Monday, January 21st, during the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, Hamady students took a step toward following in his footsteps during a free clipper cutting class in Flint.

Hamady students from the Jobs for Michigan Graduates Program attended the Teach 2 Reach School of Cosmetology event. This one-day event was founded by Keisha Norman who has offered the free beginner class on Martin Luther King Jr. Day for the past seven years.

The students received instruction in basic grooming techniques, financial literacy, and budgeting. They were also able to network with community leaders.

About a dozen students ages 14 to 18 took part in Monday's class which gave them a life-long skill and a valuable lesson in giving back.
