Meet the guy behind Hamady's hottest and newest sound. We interviewed one of Michigan's most outstanding music teachers, Deandre Golden. Read out about his passions and achievements. 

What do you teach, and how long have you been teaching?

"I teach Music and Music Appreciation classes. I've been teaching for about ten years."

What makes you want to do this job, and why do you love this job? 

"I love music. It makes a difference in my life. When I teach that same thing to others, it gives me a sense of fulfillment that I'm passing my gift on to others." 

When did you discover you liked music?

"I started in the band my fifth-grade year. At that point, I kinda knew it was something I was going to stick with."

What's your favorite thing about this job? 

"I get to meet new people and have a group of kids I can bond with differently than the typical group of students. Having a band is like being the coach." 

What college did you attend?

 I went to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and University of Michigan-Flint."

What's the most challenging thing about teaching?

"Balancing your personal life. Students have expectations when you walk through the door. What you do at home often can differ from how you are expected to feel."

Can you tell me a fun fact about yourself?

"Everything I do is music. My work is music. My fun is music."

What are your hobbies and favorite food?

"My favorite food is pizza and tacos. My hobbies are bowling and video games.
