The Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction Industry which is comprised of infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, underground, utilities and dams. The work performed may include new work, additions, alterations, or maintenance and repairs.

This training program was created by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), the primary purpose of the On-the-Job-Training (OJT) Program is to offer equal opportunity for the training and upgrading of minorities, women and disadvantaged persons toward journey-level status in the highway construction trades. This effort will broaden the labor pool with skilled individuals.

The intent of this program is to provide local job seekers with contextualized learning opportunities, training, and supportive services in highway and capital transit construction industries.

The goal of the training program is two-fold: to increase access in construction and transportation related careers for Michigan’s socially and economically disadvantaged job seekers, and to meet employer needs by creating a more skilled workforce for the industry.

Construction contractors are seeking candidates to hire for the MDOT-OJT Program. If accepted, you will earn while you learn as you help build a better Michigan.

Any career seeker that is interested in the MDOT-OJT Program can apply by completing an application at the following website, www.onlinehttps://pages.michiganconstruction.com/michigan.gov/mdotojt
